UfM Energy & Climate Action Youth Delegate Programme - Integrating youth voices into regional climate and energy policy

What is the Energy & Climate Action Youth Programme?

The UfM Energy & Climate Action Youth Delegate Programme is a new initiative by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) that places young people at the heart of climate and energy decision-making in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Designed as a twelve-month journey, the programme equips emerging leaders (aged 20–30) with the tools, knowledge, and platforms to contribute meaningfully to regional climate action and energy governance.

Participants – known as Youth Delegates – will engage in high-level policy dialogues, co-design climate initiatives, participate in regional and international events (such as COP30), and benefit from expert mentoring by the UfM Energy & Climate Action Division.

This non-remunerated, non-contractual programme promotes capacity-building and peer exchange while highlighting youth as co-creators of sustainable solutions.

The Call for Applications is currently open. Apply before Sunday 25 May 2025, at midnight (00:00) CEST.

READ THE CONCEPT NOTE

Why Apply?

As a Youth Delegate, you will:

  • Shape policy: Participate in regional consultations, contribute to UfM ministerial processes, and help draft impactful climate and energy strategies.
  • Build expertise: Receive training in climate diplomacy, project development, green innovation, and effective advocacy.
  • Grow your network: Collaborate with like-minded peers, climate leaders, and regional institutions across the Euro-Mediterranean.
  • Amplify your voice: Represent youth at major events like the UfM Energy & Climate Business Forum, and the Mediterranean Pavilion at COP30.
  • Create impact: Co-develop regional projects and publish joint outputs that reflect youth perspectives on just energy transitions and climate resilience.

This is more than a programme – it is a platform to inherit, innovate, and inspire.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from young changemakers who:

  • Are aged 20 to 30 at the time of application;
  • Hold nationality from a UfM Member State;
  • Have academic, professional, or voluntary experience in climate action, energy, sustainability, or related fields;
  • Are motivated, collaborative, and eager to contribute to regional co-operation and development;
  • Have a good command of English, the working language of the programme.

We are committed to ensuring regional balance and gender equity in the selection process.
