Brussels, 12-13 July 2016.
Two years after the second policy dialogue meeting on Higher Education, the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) will gather in Brussels on 12-13 July 2016 high level civil servants responsible for higher education or international cooperation from Southern Mediterranean and European countries, university representatives and regional university and students organisations to debate, share good practice, evaluate EU assistance and identify further needs for support and promote regional cooperation.
The first part of the event will focus on recent trends and challenges facing higher education systems on both shores of the Mediterranean in particular with regards to the integration of refugees in universities
The second part of the event will deal with the modernisation and internationalisation of higher education systems. The discussion will be organised around three subjects identified by Southern Mediterranean countries:
- University autonomy;
- National Qualification Frameworks;
- The Integration of digital technologies in higher education.
The UfM Secretariat will highlight the role of regional cooperation in addressing common challenges in higher education in the Mediterranean and explore in the discussion how coordination and synergies could be increased.
