Palma de Mallorca, Spain. 5-6 May 2016
In fulfilling its mission of strengthening cooperation and creating synergies among the Institutions of the Euro-Mediterranean Higher Education and Research Area, the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean, represented by Prof. Ilan Chet, will be presented at the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities which will take place on the 5-6 May 2016 in Palma (Mallorca, Balearic Islands). Subjects such as Internationalization, Mobility, and University Development Cooperation will be discussed throughout the Conference in both plenary sessions and working groups.
The aim of the UfM session will be not only to explore the opportunities for collaboration between the UfM Secretariat and the Universities on labelled or new projects and activities, particularly in the fields of Higher Education and Research, but also to learn about the programmes and initiatives implemented by Spanish Universities in the Mediterranean region, understand the main difficulties and obstacles, and to identify the niche where the UfM could bring its own added value. It will also be an occasion to lay the foundations for a future meeting gathering representatives from both Spanish and Southern Mediterranean universities.
The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) is a non-profit association, composed of 76 public and private universities in Spain. The main objectives include developing higher education and university research, fostering relations with both national and international institutions and its most important role is to act as interlocutor between the respective universities and the Spanish Government in the pursuit of a common understanding in all regulatory developments affecting the Higher Education area in Spain.
In line with the UfM Higher Education and Research Division’s strategy to develop University cooperation in the Mediterranean, a similar meeting was organized by the UfM Secretariat on the 3rd September 2014, between the Rectors and Vice Rectors of the Catalan universities.
The agenda will be available soon.
