
Visit of Karim Amellal, Ambassador, interministerial delegate of the French Republic to the Mediterranean
15 April 2021. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM)today received a visit from Karim Amellal, Ambassador, interministerial delegate of the French Republic to the Mediterranean.
On the occasion of his first visit to the seat of the Secretariat of the UfM in Barcelona, Amellal was able to talk with teams and discuss the main priorities and actions for the year 2021, particularly in the areas of environment and climate change, human development, and regional integration.
The discussions also focused on France’s projects with regards to hosting the Mediterranean Forum in autumn this year, in the framework of the dialogue of the two shores, which the UfM has been closely associated with since its launch by the President of the French Republic.
Finally, it was also an opportunity for the interministerial delegate to discuss preparations for the first Day of the Mediterranean, announced by the Member States during the last UfM Regional Forum.
“The French Government puts the Mediterranean at the heart of its concerns, and I thank it warmly for its dynamism and unwavering support for the Union for the Mediterranean, which will make it possible to implement joint initiatives on the occasion of the first Day of the Mediterranean on November 28,” commented Secretary General Nasser Kamel.
