UfM joins forces with other regional actors to promote circular and green economy in the Mediterranean

• The 8.9 million UfM project Mediterranean ReSCP Post Rio+20 (“Med Recipe”), will be presented by the UfM Secretariat and its promoters, as part of the UfM environment agenda.
• SwicthMed and “Med Recipe” are acknowledged as the two major regional actions advocating the shift of the Mediterranean region towards a circular and green economy through Sustainable Consumption and Production   (UfM Ministerial Declaration on Environment and Climate Change, Athens, May 2014), also contributing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Barcelona, 29 October 2015. In the framework of the Switch Med Connect event (“Towards Productive, Circular and Collaborative Economies in the Mediterranean”) – taking place from 29 to 30 October 2015 at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) -, the UfM will announce and present its “Med Recipe” Project: Supporting the Adoption of Sustainable consumption and production –SCP- and resource efficiency models in the Mediterranean.

“Med Recipe” seeks to provide financing access  for SMEs, adopting SCP models in Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia, and stimulating the development of green industries and entrepreneurship in the Western Balkans and Turkey,

The project, endorsed by the 43 UfM Member States, is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), UNIDO and the Regional Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production of the United Nations Environment Programme.
