The Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes and the École des Ponts Paris Tech sign a cooperation agreement
Paris, 21 March 2016. The Director of the École nationale des ponts et chaussées (École des Ponts Paris Tech), Mr. Armel Labourdonnaye, and the President of the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes (UEMF), Mr. Mostapha Bousmina, signed a partnership agreement at the Embassy of Morocco in Paris. The signing was attended by Amb. Chakib Benmoussa and Mr. Mohamed Kabbaj, Chancellor of the UEMF.
Under the agreement, the Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech and the UEMF reiterate their desire to build a partnership based on training and research programmes of excellence addressing socio-economic issues in the Mediterranean.
The agreement is focused on two main areas:
- Master programme in environmental engineering prepared by the UEMF and specialization in “Aquatic systems and water management” developed in collaboration with the Paris Diderot University, Paris-Est Creteil University and the Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech.
- A research partnership in materials science and environmental engineering.
The UEMF and the Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech agreed to coordinate their efforts to propose actions in the development of skills and knowledge in the fields of civil engineering, environmental engineering and engineering materials and nanomaterials. This inter-University collaboration aims at facing challenges and needs related to regional integration by taking into account scientific, technical, multicultural and linguistic aspects.
The UEMF is a project labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean in 2012, which reinforces the integration between the two shores of the Mediterranean through regional dialogue, intercultural exchange, and cooperation with regards to higher education, research and innovation. Youth Employability and Inclusive Growth remain one of the main priorities of the UfM Secretariat. Delivering a high standard of multilingual education and promoting youth mobility in the region will contribute to the long term goal of improving employability and enhancing regional development.
