Launch of “Women Leading Change” – A project on gender-responsive leadership in universities and municipalities

15-16 April 2026, Marseille.  The Union for the Mediterranean, together with the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation (ACCD), is implementing the project “Wom en Leading Change: Gender-Responsive Leadership in Mediterranean Universities and Municipalities”. The project will be launched at Aix-Marseille University in Marseille on 15 and 16 April 2026.

This regional project aims to strengthen gender-responsive leadership, institutional reform and collaboration between universities and municipalities, creating sustainable models for inclusive governance and social change in the Southern Mediterranean.

The Launch Event will gather universities from Morocco, Lebanon and Syria; a total of 10 universities and their corresponding municipalities have been selected across the three countries and will benefit from a capacity-building programme to strengthen gender-responsive leadership, institutional reform and collaboration between universities and municipalities, creating sustainable models for inclusive governance and social change in the Southern Mediterranean.

The Launch Event in Marseille will take place back‑to‑back with the Closing Event of the WE4LEAD project, ensuring that the results and tools developed under this Erasmus+ Capacity Building initiative can be shared and leveraged by a wider group of universities across the region.
