Female university students from Albania, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia are currently receiving mentoring and training for creating their own businesses.
Over the course of 2.5 years, the project contributed to enhance women’s economic inclusion by harnessing the great potential of women entrepreneurs in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia and create the conditions for a sustainable and inclusive growth.
• UfM participates in the UNIDO Conference on Women Economic Empowerment in EXPO Milano 2015, an event aiming at establishing a political dialogue and identifying recommendations for policy makers and share good practices and business women’s experience at the international level.
• The UfM Deputy Secretary General for Social and Civil Affairs, Delphine Borione, highlighted that “it is the right time to harness the great potential of women entrepreneurs for an inclusive and sustainable growth in the Euro-Mediterranean region.”
As part of its women empowerment strategy, UfM has labelled a leadership project called WoMED “next generation of leaders” for 22 young women from the Southern Mediterranean, which aims to improve their leadership capacities and gender equality skills.
The project was launched at Sciences Po Paris on 1 June 2015 in the presence of Annick Girardin, Secretary of State for Development and Francophone Countries; Pascale Boistard, Secretary of State for Women’s Rights; Élisabeth Guigou, President of the National Assembly Committee for Foreign Affairs, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation and “godmother to the Class of 2015”; and Delphine Borione, Deputy Secretary General of the UfM.
