15-17 December 2024, Aswan, Egypt – The UfM, together with the German Development Cooperation, will organize the fourth edition of the UfM Med4Jobs Stakeholders Dialogue on 15 December 2024 in Aswan, Egypt. The Dialogue will be co-funded by the European Commission (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion), and will benefit from the support of the Governorate of Aswan and the expertise of the Om Habibeh Foundation (an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network). The Dialogue will be followed back-to-back by the 10th meeting of the UfM Community of Practice (CoP) on Youth Employment in the Southern Mediterranean on 16-17 December 2024.
This year’s edition of the UfM Med4Jobs Stakeholders Dialogue will focus on best practices, success stories and pending challenges in job creation and entrepreneurship with a focus on the areas of green transition, rural development, and labour mobility. The takeaways from the Dialogue will feed into the preparations underway for the coming UfM Ministerial on Employment and Labour that will take place in 2025. The Outcome Document emanating from the Dialogue will also guide future work on the broad spectrum of employment-related challenges by the UfM Secretariat and its partners.
Launched in 2013, the Mediterranean Initiative for Jobs (Med4Jobs) is a UfM flagship project-based, cross-sectoral initiative, that has eventually become a pipeline of projects addressing a broad spectrum of employment-related challenges in the UfM Region, with over 100,000 beneficiaries, mostly young people and women, in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.
In parallel, the CoP’s objective is to enhance regional cooperation between relevant actors by providing them with a space for productive peer-learning and exchange in order to spark new approaches to youth employment promotion and innovate and disseminate existing ones.
