10 December 2025, Barcelona/Spain – The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), with the support of the German Development Cooperation, will be holding the 7th UfM Trade and Investment Forum on 10 December 2025 in Barcelona/Spain at the Headquarters of the UfM .
The current global trade landscape is marked by a complex interplay of resilience and volatility. The current geopolitical tensions and trade disruptions, such as increases in trade tariffs, are hitting markets worldwide, including Mediterranean economies.
These developments have worsened long-standing structural challenges, such as low intraregional trade integration, heavy dependence on external markets, and weak industrial diversification. Tackling these challenges requires a strategic focus on regional connectivity, effective implementation of regional trade agreements, improved trade facilitation, and diversification of export markets, to build greater resilience against external shocks.
Promoting and facilitating sustainable investment in the UfM region is essential to address persistent development gaps, boost economic resilience and accelerate the green and digital transitions. Furthermore, promoting and supporting bankable investment projects, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, water management, and climate-resilient infrastructure, can catalyze inclusive growth while aligning with global sustainability goals.
Since its first edition in 2019, the UfM Trade and Investment Forum has become a well-established dialogue platform, which addresses the most pressing issues and the current dynamics in the area of trade and investment in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The Forum brings together a broad spectrum of actors, partners and stakeholders from both shores of the Mediterranean region.
