Barcelona, 14 March 2017. The Director-General for EU Neighbourhood and Enlargement at the European Commission, Christian Danielsson, visited the UfM Secretariat today. Danielsson and Sijilmassi opened the 1st UfM Working Group on Environment and Climate Change, held in Palau de Pedralbes, Barcelona. Youth: a key driver to reverse climate change in the Mediterranean region

The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) today hosts the first General Assembly of the Mediterranean Youth Climate Network (MYCN) in Barcelona. The MYCN carries out actions to fight climate change in order to promote awareness, advocate solutions, share experiences and support local initiatives. Barcelona, 24 February 2017. UfM Ministers agree on new dynamics for an enhanced regional energy framework

EBRD and UfM private renewable energy framework for North Africa and Middle East

Marrakech, 14 November 2016. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) launched a joint programme today aimed at the development of private renewable energy markets in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia. The SEMED Private Renewable Energy Framework (SPREF), a €227.5 million financing framework, was presented during the EU Energy Day at the COP22 international climate conference in Marrakesh. The programme will help the region reduce its heavy dependence on imports of hydrocarbons. UfM at COP22: Driving a shared Mediterranean Agenda for climate action
