
MedCoast4B, new UfM-labelled project at Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) in Barcelona
Barcelona, 11 december 2017. The members of the Union for the Mediterranean met in Barcelona on 11 december 2017 to discuss the current political context and coordinate the work of the UfM Secretariat. The Senior Officials Meetings (SOM) meet on a regular basis at the level and approve the budget and work programme of the Secretariat and set the basis to prepare the Ministerial Meetings. They also discuss the project proposals submitted for approval and endorsement. The Senior Officials take decisions by consensus.
Among other, the MedCoast4B project was labelled by the UfM to analyse and promote the co-evolution of human activities and natural systems in coastal areas particularly or potentially devoted to tourism.
The overall aim of the MedCoast4BG project is to analyse and promote the co-evolution of human activities and natural systems in coastal areas particularly or potentially devoted to tourism, taking into consideration the overall principles of sustainable development, climate change effects, and governance tools such as Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP).
