Promoting Second Chance Schools through photography: the UfM signs a memorandum of understanding with IECD and FotoNostum
27 November 2019, Barcelona. On the occasion of the 2019 MedNC Annual Conference, held at the UfM’s Headquarters in Barcelona (Spain), the UfM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institut européen de coopération et de développement (IECD), promoter of the UfM-labelled regional project Mediterranean New Chance (MedNC), and the consortium led by The WonderPick Limited.
Following a previous agreement signed on 17 October 2019, the purpose of this MoU is to facilitate collaboration by and among the UfM Secretariat, IECD and The Consortium for the financing and implementation of the MedNC project. In line with this, the Consortium, which organizes the Photography Congress of the Mediterranean Fotonostrum “Unity in Cultural Diversity” at Fira Barcelona Montjuic on 8-21 July 2021, is willing to contribute financially to MedNC by donating to IECD half of the net revenues proceed of the event’s tickets sales.
MedNC addresses the challenge of socio-professional integration of young people, especially those who are not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEETs) by mobilizing and strengthening cooperation among stakeholders from both rims of the Mediterranean, including second chance schools. To date, the programme has achieved important tangible results and given hope to young generations through education, training and confidence-building.
In order to effectively address the common socio-economic challenges of the Euro-Mediterranean region and amplify the positive impact of such programmes, collaboration among parties is very important. Through this MoU, the UfM continues to facilitate the promotion of the project, namely helping to secure the needed financial resources for its execution, in collaboration with IECD.
