He pointed, in this regard, to the existence of a common vision shared by Tunisia, the Arab and Mediterranean states and commitment to speak with one voice with the European partners.
At the end of the meeting he had with UFM Secretary-General Fathallah Sijilmassi, Mr.Abdessalem reasserted “Tunisia’s commitment to play a key role in energising the Union For the Mediterranean” and to establish strong and deep relations with its European partners.
He also said that he had discussed with UFM secretary-general means to strengthen Tunisia’s ties with this structure and achieve joint projects, such as the inter-Maghreb highway.
In his statement to TAP news agency, Mr. Fathallah Sijilmassi said that his meeting with the foreign minister had been an occasion to look at prospects for developing co-operation between new Tunisia and UFM, speeding up the pace of economic development and contributing to preserving stability and peace in the region.
He added that the meeting had been an opportunity to look at several projects whose furtherance will be supervised by UFM Secretariat-General.
