UFM Side Event on Water, Entrepreneurship and Youth in the World Water Week
Stockholm, 27 August 2019. The UfM is co-organizing with CMI and GWP-MED on 27 August a Side Event on Water, Entrepreneurship and Youth, During the flagship event of the World Water Week in Stockholm. Through enhanced understanding and awareness of innovation, education, job creation and networking opportunities, this joint effort aims to empower youth in the policy making processes at national and regional levels, contribute towards having young people as a priority and turn CMI’s Mediterranean Youth for Water Network (MedYWat) into the flagship youth Network for the region. Besides briefly sharing information on ongoing work, the session will also include panel exchanges among representatives of youth networks in the region, regional organizations and development partners discussing tangible next steps, and will conclude with Q&As with the audience.
Young women and men in the MENA region are calling for meaningful and better civic, economic, social, and political participation. Supporting a systematic approach for youth engagement across the development spectrum is crucial for both meeting their demands and achieving the Global Agenda 2030, especially with reference to UfM water Policy framework of Action 2030.
MENA focus: Addressing water-employment migration in the Mediterranean
The UfM is supporting the GWP-Med in organizing the Water Employment migration in the Mediterranean during the MENA focus day within the World water week in Stockholm. The session will elaborate on how to mainstream WEM approaches and actions to increase water-related employability and entrepreneurship in countries of migration origin/transit/hosting, while promoting sustainable water management, gender equality and youth objectives. It will pinpoint facts and experiences and identify action points for advancing objectives of the WEM thematic area of the UfM Water Agenda .
