The UfM Secretariat signs a MoU with the Groupe interacadémique pour le développement (GID) at the international conference on “Skills and Knowledge in action for co-development in the Mediterranean area”

On the occasion of its 350th anniversary, the French Academie des Sciences in partnership with the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) and under the auspices of the Groupe Interacadémique pour le Développement (GID) holds an international science and society event on “Skills and Knowledge in action for co-development in the Mediterranean area”. The event, held in Marseille and open to the general public, will gather academies and scientific institutions from across the Mediterranean jointly with relevant international organizations, private sector representatives and civil society organizations. It will promote the role of science and technologies in answering some major challenges that the Mediterranean is facing today and in particular: climate change, coastal & water resources management, economic development and youth employment.
On this occasion, UfMS Secretary General Mr. Fathallah Sijilmassi and Mr. François Guinot President of the “Groupe Interacadémique pour le Développement” (GID) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to enhance the participation of academic institutions to UfM regional projects and initiatives and to invigorate educational, training and scientific collaboration between relevant stakeholders from UfM countries, with the aim of contributing to inclusive growth and youth employment in the Mediterranean region.
