Sustainable Energy Week: MSP experts meet in Brussels to work on the Master Plan
Brussels, 20th June. Within the framework of the Sustainable Energy Week, the European Commission and the Energy Division of the UfM Secretariat jointly organized the Euromed Energy Forum and the Mediterranean Solar Plan Joint Committee of National Experts in Brussels on 19-20th June.
The event counted with the participation of the Secretary General of the UfM, Fathallah Sijilmassi, the Deputy Secretary General for Energy at the UfM, Sotiris Varouxakis, the Deputy Director General for Energy at the European Commission, Fabrizio Barbaso and the Director General of the European Commission’s DEVCO (Development and Cooperation), Marcus Cornaro. Two chapters of the Master Plan – Policy and regulatory framework issues and Physical infrastructures – were discussed on the basis of a paper drafted by the Secretariat and the countries leading the work on these chapters (Germany, Spain and Italy).
Furthermore, a large conference on the European Commission’s communication on renewable energy policy was also organized on 21st June. Since the communication includes a substantial chapter dedicated to Euro-Med aspects the UfM Secretariat presented its contribution in a panel concerning international renewable energy issues.
