The UfM Secretariat builds renewed partnerships with the Euromed University of Fes and the EMUNI University, regional hubs for higher education and research in the Mediterranean
22 and 23 February 2018, Barcelona – Capitalizing on the continuous and successful cooperation with the Euromed University of Fes (UEMF) and the EMUNI University, the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Mr. Fathallah Sijilmassi, signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with the Presidents of these two regional hubs for Higher Education and Research in the Mediterranean, Prof. Dr. Mostapha Bousmina and Prof. Dr. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, respectively.
The signature of these framework agreements has the objective of building renewed partnerships through the implementation of a multiannual Joint Action Plan for the period 2018-2020 with a specific focus on the current year on the basis of the UfM Work Programme.
In this regard, the UfM Secretariat and the UEMF will collaborate together in the organisation of a Youth Forum as well as of a networking seminar gathering representatives from academia, industry, research, technology, incubators and national and local authorities from the South Mediterranean countries with the objective to foster the establishment of research and innovation consortia ready to reply to calls for project proposals.
Activities to be jointly organised with the EMUNI University encompass, among others, the EMUNI Annual Conference 2018 “The Future of Knowledge Institutions in the Mediterranean” and the Euro-Mediterranean Science & Arts Festival which will be held on occasion of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the creation of EMUNI University along with the promotion of the educational and training programmes offered by this institution.

The Euromed University of Fes (Université Euromed de Fès, UEMF) stands as a new centre of excellence contributing to regional stability and integration through the promotion of dialogue, intercultural exchange, sharing of knowledge and cooperation in the fields of higher education, research and innovation.

Established in the frame of the Declaration of the Paris Summit for the Mediterranean (Paris, 13th July 2008), the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI University) is a Euro-Mediterranean institution that gathers knowledge and experience of over 130 universities from 33 different countries, contributing in a significant way to the consolidation of an integrated Euro-Mediterranean Higher Education and Research Area.
