Visit of the German delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the UfM

Barcelona, 3 June 2013. The Secretary General of the UfM welcomed today the German delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the UfM at the premises of the UfM Secretariat.

The meeting was an opportunity to present the projects launched by the Secretariat of the UfM and to exchange ideas on ways to strengthen the Euro-Mediterranean partnership in the fields of women empowerment, youth mobility and job creation.

To achieve a greater impact in advancing cooperation in these priorities, the German delegation and the UfM Secretariat decided to work closely to further involve German actors in UfM projects, to continue to improve the cooperation between the PA-UfM and the Secretariat and to provide political impetus to projects through targeted support.

Considering the important role of Germany in the region, this meeting also provided an excellent framework to discuss the mechanisms and tools to enhance awareness among members of the private sector, young generations, researchers/students and the civil society about the importance of working closer with the Southern Mediterranean countries.
