• UfM Deputy Secretary General Delphine Borione represents the UfM ‎Secretariat at the 59th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, ‎taking place in New York from 9 to 20 March 2015. ‎

The unemployment rate for women in the Middle East and North Africa region is 21.3%, among the highest rates in the world. Despite the progress achieved in the region to empower women and promote gender equality, the gender gap remains high. This will not be closed until women participate fully in economic, social, political and cultural life.

The main objective of the Mediterranean New Chance programme ‎is to provide young people who have been excluded from the ‎labour market (dropouts from school and unemployed graduates) ‎with innovative training and first business experience following ‎the successful pedagogical model of the Second Chance School of ‎Marseille.‎‎
