A technical training on how to apply the degree of urbanisation will be conducted by the Joint Research Centre, the European Commission’s science and knowledge service, as a follow-up to the discussions held on the degree of urbanisation in the second meeting of the Permanent WG.
The technical training is mainly addressed to GIS experts working at the National Statistical Offices of UfM Member States. A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analysing data. GIS integrates many types of data. It analyses spatial location and organises layers of information into visualizations using maps and 3D scenes. With this unique capability, GIS reveals deeper insights into data, such as patterns, relationships, and situations—helping users make smarter decisions.
