Developing Women Empowerment
Ongoing
The project’s major ambition is to enhance the role of women in Euro-Mediterranean societies in an effort to contribute to the long-term sustainable development of the region.
“Developing Women Empowerment” has a strategic, long-term approach to foster gender equality in the region. The project’s holistic approach involves the academic and scientific community in the development of various innovative tools: an on-line gender institute, a laboratory of shared practices and an academic and scientific network. The project is based on three interconnected pillars:
- The development of a knowledge-based centre. Different research studies and articles on gender equality and women-related issues will be available for the general public and will serve as a unique Euro-Mediterranean information pool on the subject.
- The establishment of a network of networks. The network of networks, supported by an interactive internet platform in three languages (French, English and Arabic), will provide NGOs, academic institutions, researchers, line ministries, local authorities and businesses active in the field of women empowerment and gender equality with new opportunities for networking and experience sharing.
- The implementation of specific projects on the ground. Specific projects on the ground will provide disadvantaged women with effective support for their active participation in the economic, political, social and cultural life of the region. Taking into account the results of the implemented field projects, the system will be constantly enriched via a laboratory of shared practices. The laboratory will be an essential element for assessing the project’s progress and its long-term sustainability.
All these three pillars will be supported by an interactive on-line platform, regularly updated and administered by the project’s promoter.
