UfM Secretary General and Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs hold talks on the state of play of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and regional challenges
Madrid, 10 September 2014. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Fathallah Sijilmassi, and the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García-Margallo, held a bilateral meeting today at the Ministry’s headquarters, in Madrid, to discuss Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and regional challenges, as well as the consolidation of the role of the Union for the Mediterranean for the reinforcement of regional cooperation and integration.
The meeting took place a week before the holding of the Ministerial Conference on international support to Libya, set be held on 17 September in Madrid, in which the UfM Secretariat will participate.
UfM Secretary General Sijilmassi also held bilateral meetings with the Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Gonzalo de Benito, and the Spanish Secretary of State for the European Union, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, to exchange views on UfM activities, the strong support of Spain to the UfM as well as the importance of the Mediterranean in the agenda of the European Union.
