The European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (UEAPME) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) signed yesterday a cooperation agreement to reinforce the exchanges between the European and Moroccan Small business support organizations.

In the framework of the Med Forum Milan 2012, Italy’s Prime Minister Mario Monti announced the launching in 2013 of a project that the UfM has been supporting since its inception. This project consists in the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean Development Center for MSMEs.

One of the main conclusions agreed during the 5+5 Dialogue Summit held in Malta was the need to enhance synergies between the UfM and Group 5 + 5, particularly in domains such as growth, job creation, mobility and immigration, as well as security and the fight against terrorism and organized crime.

The UfM Secretariat held a joint session with 40 Directors and Researchers of Euro-Mediterranean Think Tanks. The event, organised in collaboration with the IEMed and EuroMesCo, aimed to discuss the future of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and the role of the UfM.
The meeting was an occasion to reiterate Sweden’s support to the UfM and to explore ways to enhance joint work on the concrete projects the UfM is leading.
Discussions focused on possible ways of cooperation between Hungary and the Secretariat and the role that the private sector could play in it.
During a working visit to Nicosia, UfM Secretary General Sijilmassi held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Kozakou-Marcoullis and participated at the 12th Facility for Euro-Mediterranean Investment and Partnership (FEMIP) Conference. Cyprus currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
