December, 2014. The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) has collaborated with RES4MED (Renewable Energy Solutions for the Mediterranean) and Enel Foundation in the first edition of the Advanced Training Course “Integration of Renewable Energy Solutions in the Mediterranean electricity markets” that was successfully concluded in November. RES4MED and Enel Foundation have organized this course during two weeks in November 2014, also in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano. The training programme was addressed to a selected group of candidates from Energy Regulatory Authorities, Ministries and Energy Companies of Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries, Ph.D. and researchers as well as RES4MED representatives. It offered the opportunity to evaluate the most appropriate solutions in order to pursue an efficient integration of renewable energy sources in the Mediterranean electricity market, contributing to local economic and social development.
The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean grants high importance and contributes to the promotion of capacity building and training activities in the region in order to set up a real regional network for sharing knowledge and experiences and to strengthen the cooperation within the Mediterranean basin.
