UfM on the ground: UfM Projects and initiatives

The UfM acts as a catalyst for regional cooperation projects and initiatives that respond to priorities set out in the UfM Vision Statement, and endorsed through sectoral ministerial declarations. Projects and initiatives are identified within the framework of the UfM Regional Platforms, permanent working structures that foster dialogue, share experiences, and help translate ministerial mandates into concrete action. By facilitating technical expertise, capacity development, networking opportunities and strategic partnerships, the UfM projects and initiatives seek to maximise impact for the people of the Mediterranean region.

In collaboration with regional and national donors and international financing institutions, the UfM also contributes to mobilising sustainable financing to support regional priorities. This includes initiatives such as the UfM Grant Schemes for socio-economic development, with direct financial support, or the Blue Mediterranean Partnership, which seeks to accelerate investments in bankable blue economy projects and scale up their impact.

Selected regional projects may be granted the UfM label by a decision of UfM Member States adopted by consensus. The UfM label provides added value by enhancing visibility, trust, and credibility, facilitating stakeholder mobilisation, and access to a broad network of potential partners and donors, capitalising on the UfM’s convening power.
